When we travel at high speeds in space, time slows down for us relative to the rest of the universe. In other words, by attaining such velocity, we permit the universe to progress through the dimension of time while we seem to stand still.
Now imagine achieving the absolute speed of light. This would entirely halt time for us, allowing the universe to progress through the dimension of time indefinitely.
What this implies is that for anything traveling at the speed of light, such as massless photons, the entirety of the universe's future has already transpired. From the beginning to the end of time, it has all already happened.
Even though everything has already occurred, we experience it moment by moment. This gives us the illusion of time.
It's akin to traveling on a road. The road, from start to end, exists in entirety, but we are only present at one point on it.
Why are we moving forward and not backward in the dimension of time?
We do not know.
